WWDC 2007 - New Finder
I’m watching the WWDC 2007 Keynote and so far it’s been ok - a lot of glitzy eye-candy and the like. I mean does it really matter if the “stacks” actually flow up and out to display what’s in the folder? To me no because I normally turn all that stuff off to get back the CPU cycles for building. :) But one thing I spotted during his talk about the new Finder is that the Finder Sidebar now has Smart Searches.
Looks like the iTunes style Smart Playlist has been borrowed by Finder and to me this shows that Apple really is using the back-end power that Spotlight and xattr give to the file system.
After all how many apps have you tested and installed that promise to organize and make relevant all of the various files in your system?
Heck, I’ve written and discarded more than one and paid for even more - but now the OS X folks have hooked them up for us. Sorry Hazel folks :(
