Fall Baking - Banana Bread
My mom used to make this all the time, but she never used a recipe that I knew of. So when I got the urge the other day to make some (nothing like the site of over ripe bananas to bring that urge up,) I first had to try and remember what she did and then look up in my copy of Fanny May a recipe to make sure I got the proportions right.
I’ll find out in about 55 minutes :)
- 3 or 4 ripe bananas
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C)
- Mash bananas and then add the butter into a large mixing bowl
- Mix in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla
- Add baking soda and salt and mix in
- Add the flour
- Pour into a buttered 4x8 inch loaf pan
- Bake for 1 hour.
