have the pod people invaded Microsoft?

It just has to be an alien invasion - has anyone checked the basement of Microsoft to see if the pods are present?

Why? Because the look, feel and behaviour of Microsoft Popfly looks, umm, usable and rich to be a 0.x version of a Microsoft product.

Now don't go slamming me as a hater!

Seriously when was the last time the first version of a Microsoft product, let alone an Alpha, looked so clean and functional.

Oh, and notice that they use "Alpha" and not the Google-esk "Beta" moniker :)

Anywho, I had wondered what Chris Pirillo was babbling about last night on his live show, turns out he must have been given a peek as his blog post implies. And even though Chris says

Don’t you DARE draw comparisons to Yahoo! Pipes - because the two of them simply aren’t in the same universe. Whereas Pipes was developed for developers, Popfly was clearly designed for developers AND USERS! Someone at Microsoft is listening! They’re putting the USERS in control, and making development ungodly simple.

you just know that people will compare it and maybe they should - competition is a good thing and I'm sure Yahoo! Pipes team can handle the pressue. I only hope that if they make it designed for users that they don't hinder the entry-points for developers by limiting the scope.
